2024 DNC Convention DJ Cassidy Lil Jon

The DNC Shows Up n' Shows Out For The Delegations Roll

DJ Cassidy, decked out in a royal blue double-breasted satin suit, brought the Democratic National Convention to life by spinning a unique song for each state and territory as they awarded their delegates to Vice President Kamala Harris. The result was an electrifying mashup that felt like a high-end karaoke session: Michigan grooved to Detroit native Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” Massachusetts rocked out to Dropkick Murphys’ “I’m Shipping Up to Boston,” and California vibed to Tupac Shakur’s classic “California Love.” Georgia took it up a notch by featuring Atlanta’s own Lil Jon, who stormed the Chicago’s United Center to the beats of “Turn Down for What,” his hit with DJ Snake. Florida’s Democratic chairwoman, Nikki Fried, made a passionate plea, declaring, “Florida is worth fighting for,” as she urged national Democrats to keep campaigning in the state, despite its recent shift to the right and its likely support for Trump in November. Alabama was represented by Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama,” while Alaska chose “Feel It Still” by Portugal. The Man, a band from Wasilla—Sarah Palin’s former hometown. Minnesota paid tribute to Prince with “1999,” Indiana honored Gary native Michael Jackson with “Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough,” and Nevada rocked to “Mr. Brightside” by Las Vegas’s own The Killers. Kansas stayed true to its roots with “Carry On My Wayward Son” by the band Kansas, while New Jersey opted for Bruce Springsteen’s iconic “Born in the USA.” Social media buzzed with excitement over the creative spin on the roll call, with users eagerly speculating about the complete song list. Later that Tuesday night, a playlist featuring all 62 tracks used during the event surfaced on Spotify.
