Share
Giving off some severe Jordan Peele's Nope vibes, Timberland boldly joins forces with the Oklahoma Cowboys in a celebration of heritage and adventure, transcending mere fashion to honor the resilient community of Black pioneers reclaiming their space in the wild. At the core of this collaboration is the Oklahoma Cowboys Foundation, a beacon of the authentic cowboy lifestyle, inspiring Black youth to embrace equestrianism and the outdoors. Founder Jakian Parks emphasizes the importance of tapping into agricultural prowess embedded in heritage, stating, "Black curiosity is our power."
The limited-release Timberland Black Pioneer Collection weaves past and present Black adventurers' stories, fusing the brand's design codes with Americana and African-American styles. Featuring iconic silhouettes like the Premium 6-inch and Euro Hiker, the collection mirrors nature with shaggy green suede accents. Footwear designer Shari-Lee Whyte elaborates on deliberate choices, including a star textile, evolving leather, topographical map prints, red laces, and a black sole, symbolizing mutual protection.
Designers Andrew Townes and Shari-Lee Whyte pay homage to Black adventurers, crafting a collection that seamlessly transitions from the outdoors to streetwear. Organization founder Jakian Parks captures the essence of Oklahoma's equestrian heritage, emphasizing shared values of toughness, durability, and community with Timberland. Beyond fashion, Timberland's commitment extends to a $50,000 donation to the Oklahoma Cowboys Foundation, supporting aspiring cowgirls and cowboys. The Timberland Black Pioneer Collection, embodying heritage and resilience, launches on January 25 at timberland.com, the New York City flagship store, and select retailers.
