The Gorillaz, Westside Gunn, and Tim Burton: Inside A$AP Rocky’s Wildest Collaboration Yet
Share
A$AP Rocky has teamed up with legendary filmmaker Tim Burton for a striking dual music video featuring the tracks "WHISKEY" and "BLACK DEMARCO." In a rare on-screen appearance, Burton plays a creator who accidentally unleashes six hand-drawn personas from his sketchbook into the streets of Manhattan. These characters—including "Babushka Boi" and "GR1M"—were personally designed by Burton to represent different stages of Rocky’s stylistic and musical evolution.
Directed by Rocky’s AWGE collective, the project is a star-studded affair both visually and sonically. The music features a moody hook from Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn, signature ad-libs from Westside Gunn, and melodic vocals from Spencer Sutherland. By blending Burton’s signature gothic animation with New York’s gritty energy, the video serves as a centerpiece for Rocky’s new album, DON’T BE DUMB.
