Do you know? T-Pain recently revealed that he refrains from taking credit for the country songs he's contributed to, citing racism as the primary reason for this choice. In a TikTok video shared last month, the renowned "Bartender" artist explained how he opts to receive royalties without acknowledgment for his work in the country genre due to the discriminatory backlash he's encountered.
Despite facing criticism, T-Pain defended his love for country music, emphasizing that good music transcends labels and genres. He expressed frustration with the societal perception that it's unacceptable to appreciate music from different styles and backgrounds, noting that country music is where he finds inspiration for his harmonies.
Having collaborated with notable artists like Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, and Jamie Foxx, T-Pain disclosed his extensive involvement in crafting country songs. However, he revealed that racism has tainted his experience in the genre, leading him to forgo public recognition for his contributions.
In a previously unearthed interview with "The Breakfast Club," T-Pain mentioned collaborating with Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan, Rhett Akins, and Dallas Davidson, among others, on country tracks. Despite his significant contributions, he acknowledged that many artists prefer to keep his involvement discreet due to societal prejudices.
Although T-Pain is known for pioneering the auto-tune sound of the early 2000s, he also received high praise from Ozzy Osbourne for his rendition of "War Pigs." "This is the best cover of 'War Pigs' ever," Osbourne wrote of the seven-minute swagger opus. "Why didn't you guys call me?" This further underscores T-Pain's versatility and talent as a musician, garnering admiration from across the music industry.
