San Diego's Own Teenage Picasso Teams Up with Parisian Masters

Andres Valencia, the 13-year-old art prodigy from San Diego, is making headlines once again, this time by partnering with the legendary Parisian print house, Mourlot Editions. This collaboration is no small feat—Mourlot, founded in 1852, is the same studio that once produced lithographs for masters like Picasso, Matisse, and Chagall. They rarely work with contemporary artists, making this a huge milestone for Valencia's already impressive career.

The partnership features three prints: "Woman," "Samurai," and "Commander." Each piece, measuring 22 by 28 inches, was created using Mourlot’s time-honored traditional techniques. The prints are available on the Mourlot Editions website, with unsigned copies selling for $250 and limited signed editions priced at $1,250.

Valencia burst onto the art scene at Art Miami in 2021, becoming the youngest artist ever showcased at the prestigious fair. His large, Cubist-inspired works quickly soared in value, with some paintings jumping from $10,000 to more than $100,000. Over the past three years, five of his paintings have sold at auction through Phillips. He's also a sensation on social media, with nearly 300,000 followers on Instagram. His list of collectors is just as impressive, featuring stars like Eva Longoria and Sofia Vergara, along with art world heavyweights like Ron Burkle.

Beyond his artistic success, Valencia is known for his philanthropy. He has donated over $1 million worth of his work to various charities, including UNICEF and amfAR. This year, his first book, Painting Without Rules, was published by DK Penguin Random House. Art fans can look forward to his first museum exhibition, scheduled for early 2027 at the Museo Jumex in Mexico City.
