A new five-part docuseries, Magic City: An American Fantasy, explores the rise of the iconic Atlanta strip club and its impact on hip-hop. The series, which premieres on Starz on August 15, features appearances from a star-studded cast of artists, athletes, and the club's founder, Michael "Mr. Magic" Barney.
Drake, who executive produced the series through his company DreamCrew Entertainment alongside Jermaine Dupri, calls Magic City "one of the wonders of the world." In the trailer, he explains that the club became a place for "people to flourish, Black music to flourish."
The docuseries features interviews with stars like Drake, Quavo, Nelly, 2 Chainz, Big Boi, Killer Mike, and T.I. The doc also delves into legendary moments from the club's history, such as Shaquille O'Neal revealing he signed his $120 million Lakers contract there, Quavo asserting there "wouldn’t be a Migos without Magic City," and Big Boi realizing he and Andre 3000 had a hit with "B.O.B" after it got the Magic City seal of approval.
