Jackie Robinson: A True Black Hero For Generations.

Entering Black History Month today, it's imperative to acknowledge that each day encapsulates black history. Yesterday would have commemorated the birthday of baseball Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson, making it apt to share this reflection now. The recent incident of his statue being abducted serves as a poignant reminder that our greatness is unfortunately seen as a threat rather than embraced as an integral part of our illustrious historical achievements.

A stolen statue of baseball icon Jackie Robinson was discovered disassembled and burned in a trash can fire at a Kansas park, delivering a shocking blow to authorities now intensifying efforts to apprehend the vandals behind this "disgraceful" act. The theft took place last week at McAdams Park in Wichita, with surveillance footage capturing individuals taking the statue from the Jackie Robinson Pavilion, severing it at the ankles, and leaving only Robinson's feet behind. Damages are estimated at a staggering $75,000.

Born on January 31, 1919, Jackie Robinson broke racial barriers as the first African American player in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. His legacy extends beyond statistics, including a six-time All-Star, 1947 Rookie of the Year, and a key player in the Dodgers' 1955 World Series victory.

Robinson's athletic prowess wasn't confined to the baseball field. Excelling in basketball, football, and track and field at UCLA, he continued his winning streak post-retirement by championing civil rights, collaborating with the NAACP, and becoming the first African American VP of a major U.S. corporation.

Chadwick Boseman portrayed Jackie Robinson in the 2013 biopic, "42," capturing the essence of Robinson's groundbreaking journey.

Despite this appalling act, a heartening response unfolded as donations surpassed $140,000 through an online fundraiser on what would have been Robinson's 105th birthday. The community's support sharply contrasts with the perpetrators' actions, while authorities intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible.
