Boots Riley Wants You To Love Boosters, Too

In I Love Boosters, Boots Riley delivers a vibrant, "anti-capitalist agitprop" heist comedy that explores the intersection of high fashion and class warfare. The plot follows the Velvet Gang, a sophisticated crew of professional shoplifters led by Corvette (Keke Palmer), who frame their high-stakes thefts as a form of "community service" by reselling designer goods at steep discounts. The story kicks into high gear when they target Christie Smith (Demi Moore), a ruthless fashion mogul who reportedly built her empire on an idea stolen from Corvette. This "stacked" ensemble cast also features LaKeith Stanfield, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, and Don Cheadle, blending Riley’s frequent collaborators with seasoned industry veterans.

True to the surrealist style seen in Sorry to Bother You, the film utilizes "technicolor" visuals to channel modern class anger and critique the exploitation inherent in consumer culture. By reclaiming luxury items for the "low-class," the Velvet Gang’s "Triple F" (Fashion Forward Filanthropy) movement acts as a satirical protest against a world where brand status is a prerequisite for survival. This highly anticipated project is scheduled to premiere at SXSW on March 12, 2026, with a wider theatrical release following on May 22, 2026.
