Big L, De La Soul, and Nas/Preemo: Mass Appeal’s Legend Has It Slates Historic 2025 Releases

Man, big news for hip-hop heads! We finally have a potential release window for the highly anticipated Nas and DJ Premier joint album.

It all went down at New York Comic-Con, of all places. Statik Selektah actually posted a photo on his Instagram Stories of a flyer that laid out the release schedule for Mass Appeal's Legend Has It series. According to the flyer, the Nas and Preemo record is penciled in for December 2025.

And that's not all! The same series is reportedly set to bring us a new De La Soul album in November and a posthumous release from Big L in October. Talk about a legendary few months!

De La Soul's New Title Pays Tribute

Speaking of De La Soul, while they were at the convention, Posdnuos and Maseo dropped a significant detail: their upcoming album is titled Cabin in the Sky.

It's a nod to the 1943 musical film that starred icons like Ethel Waters, Lena Horne, and Louis Armstrong. Posdnuos explained that he stumbled on the movie while working on the album and immediately felt the title was perfect.

He also became quite emotional while talking about the late Dave "Trugoy the Dove" Jolicoeur, who passed away last year. The album will feature songs with Dave, and Pos said the title feels like a sign.

"I’m sure there are people here who are spiritual and understand what I’m saying. It feels like ‘Dave’s here for me. He’s here," Pos told HipHopDX. "There are times where I’m writing rhymes and I’m getting goosebumps ’cause I feel like Dave would be saying, ‘Yo, that’s dope!’”
